DAY 1 Departure from Philadelphia airport, June 2, 2012
Board the transatlantic flight to Tel Aviv, Israel. Meals served on board of the plane.
Upon arrival to Israel, groups will meet with their guide, board the bus and head to hotel, breakfast and rest. Today in the afternoon group will visit the Church of Visitation the site of the Blessed Virgin Mary's visit with her cousin Elizabeth. This is the place where Our Lady said Her "Magnificat". Visit here will also include the birthplace of St. John the Baptist. Late in the afternoon group will check in to hotel, rest before dinner and overnight.
- First day upon arrival may change according to the flights schedule and your arrival to Holy land.
DAY 3 Bethlehem, June 4, 2014
In the morning after breakfast we drive to Bethlehem (house of bread in Hebrew). First is the visit to the Shepherd’s Field where Angels appeared to the shepherds (Luke 2), to announce the Birth of Jesus. Later to visit the church of Nativity built over the tomb of St. Jerome, In the Grotto under the central altar we will walk by the Holy Manger, and the Silver Star with the Latin inscription . Holy mass and time for your own prayers before you return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
In the morning after breakfast you will leave for Nazareth, here upon arrival group will celebrate Holy mass and visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus and the place where He spent the first 30 years of His life. We will pray in the churches of St. Joseph and the Annunciation where the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that She would be the Mother of God. A walk through old Nazareth brings us to see the Well where Mary went for water, visit Orthodox church there. After lunch break tour will continue to Cana the site of Jesus' first miracle. In this little town we will have the Renewal of the Marriage Vows. Back to hotel.
DAY 5 Nazareth – River Jordan – Capernaum – Tabgha – June 6, 2014
This morning pilgrimage In the Footsteps of Jesus continues with visit to Next on your route is visit to Capernaum, where Jesus lived; new church built at the site of the Home of St. Peter, ruins of the synagogue where Jesus preached, one that had being built in the time of Jesus. Through story of our guide we will get to know more of the Life of Jesus in Capernaum. Same day you will enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee before going to Tabgha, the site of the Multiplication of the loaves and fishes and the church of St. Peter's Primacy & to Mt. Of Beatitudes where the Lord Jesus preached Sermon on the Mountain. For the end of the day we are on river Jordan, same river Jesus was baptized in by St. John. Here you will have chance to renew your baptismal vows. Today’s pilgrimage is over and we return to our hotel.
This morning to beat the afternoon crowd we will drive to Mt Tabor. We will take a short taxi drive up to the mountain to visit the Church of Transfiguration and celebrate holy mass here. After visit we will head south through the Jordan Valley to Jericho, the oldest known continuously inhabited city in the world. After a stop to tell the story of Zacchaeus and renew ourselves “The Parable of Good Samaritan” we will have stop for lunch. Later you will drive through Judean Desert, passing by the Mt. of Temptation. Same late morning continue to Qumran, the place where Dead Sea Scrolls were found, more than 900 pieces in 30 caves. Stop for “Dead sea” experience float on the surface of the Dead Sea – . Long and inspiring day ends in Jericho hotel.
DAY 7 Jericho – Jerusalem – Mount of Olives – June 8, 2014
Arriving to Jerusalem we will head to Mt. of Olives to visit the Ascension chapel – we believe that it was here Jesus ascended to heaven 40 day after the Resurrection. Next on the schedule is the Pater Noster – site of where Jesus taught his disciples the Our Father – “Pater Noster”. Enjoy thefrom atop the Mount of Olives. We then walk down the Palm Sunday Road, the road Jesus followed on His way to Jerusalem. We stop at the chapel of Dominus Flevit where our Lord wept and shed a tear for the city of Jerusalem (Luke 19: 37- 42). We than proceed to the Garden of Gethsemane and pray at the church of All Nations (Church of Gethsemane), where Jesus prayed: "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me, nevertheless, not my will but your will be done". At the end of the day you will visit the church of St. Peter Gallicantu, the church built on the site of the house of high priest Caiaphas. This is where Jesus spent night in the dungeon after his arrest. On this site Peter denied Jesus three times and the cock crowed (Gallicantu).
As Jerusalem is our destiny, today you will enter the Old City and begin with the Church of St Anne one of the rare churches that was spared from destruction of Moslems was built over the house of Joachim and Anne. Here we also visit and pray at the pool of Bethesda where Jesus Christ healed a man who was crippled for 38 years. After visit here we will , the Via Dolorosa, from Pilate’s fortress and Flagellation Chapel to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, site of Crucifixion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. From here at the open market of Jerusalem, area made for “bargaining and shopping” at the open market of Jerusalem – free day until return to hotel for dinner and overnight
DAY 9 – Jerusalem Old City, June 10, 2014
This morning, we will visit the Holocaust Museum in the morning and then in the afternoon group will stop to see the model of Jerusalem from the time of Jesus in the Israel Museum. After lunch break we are back to Jerusalem, first on to Mount Zion Church of Dormition, where Mary fell into Eternal sleep, and the Room of the Last Supper. Then, we will go to the Temple Mount area with the Cardo Maximus (the street from Roman times) and then end at the Western Wall of Solomon's Temple, with the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock mosque above it.
Tonight is the final and farewell dinner at the hotel in Jerusalem.
DAY 10 Jerusalem – Tel Aviv – USA, June 11, 2014
Today transfer to Tel Aviv airport for flight back home - arrival home same day.
